How can I get involved with The Torch?

Getting involved with the Torch is easy. All you need to do is drop us a line. One way is to visit us in person. The Torch has open meetings every Monday at 6pm in the Campus Center Room 006. The office is on the 2nd floor of the Campus Center, in Room 206 (with Campus Design). If you prefer, you can e-mail us at Torch@umassd.edu. Or call us at 508.999.8158.

Depending on your interest, a section editor may ask you to do an assignment or you may have an idea for an article of your own if you want to write. There are also positions for illustration, layout, and web design. Or positions on the business end, such as advertising, distribution, and promotion. The Torch does not require any experience.

How many issues does The Torch publish?

The Torch publishes on a weekly basis each semester, except for vacation weeks such as Thanksgiving break and Spring break. We do not print during a Finals week. On average this equates to 13 issues per semester. The Torch also publishes an Orientation Issue for New Student Orientation's summer program.
