Garlic Fest ‘09

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

Henry here. Just got back from the North Quabbin Garlic and Arts Festival, which was amusing. Rained a bit, but there was still plenty of garlic to go around (garlic bread, garlic pesto, garlic sausage, garlic ice cream) along with an unprecedented amount of maple (maple sugar candy, maple fudge, maple cotton candy, maple peanut brittle). There were also plenty of farm animals, including ducks, geese, sheep, angora bunnies, goats, and horses, all for sale (except the horses). The ducks were only twelve bucks apiece and I seriously considered getting one until I remembered that I live on a college campus and ducks probably would not go over well. The ducks were used in a herding demonstration with border collies, showing off how the dogs could control the ducks as instructed by a human. Interesting chain of command there.

After all that, I finally saw Silence of the Lambs, and now the title makes sense to me. It was a very good film, not nearly as gory as I expected.

That’s all I can think of for now. How are you guys doing?
